Mars One mission to be delayed by two years
‘Mars One', a nonprofit organization in the Netherlands has been attracting criticism from experts all over the world since its inception. The organization also received a lot of media attention when it announced its aim to establish a human colony on the red planet by 2027.
The organization has aimed to fund the project through various means like administrative fees, which is to be paid by the astronaut. The crowdfunding is another option by which Mars One officials are trying to fund its demonstration mission of 2018 with the association of IndieGoGo, an international crowdfunding website.
The Dutch initiative’s CEO, Bas Landsdorp has denied all the criticism in a recent press conference. He also added that complaints against the company have increased because ‘the truth’ has not been reported by the media. He explained the technical feasibility of the project, which has been challenged by many aerospace experts, scientists, and engineers.
The nonprofit organization informed about the possible two-year delay to a manned mission to the red planet.
On being asked about the selection process, one of the top 100 candidates, Joseph Roche explained about the point gaining process to climb the selection ladder at the Mars One. He told the press that the only way to get points is to donate money to the organization or buy merchandise.
Though Mars One has said that psychological analysis is a major part of the selection process, Roche has not been through any of the testing yet.
The CEO of the Mars One has totally denied these claims and told that all applicants have been through tough selection process.
