How to Retrieve Deleted Photos from a Memory Card

While the storage media is often used to keep our important files and photos safe, sometimes we may end up deleting them inadvertently. If you have deleted the important pictures of your friends or family by mistake, do not fret about it. There is a good chance you can still recover them. However, make sure that you do not save any new data in the memory card. Also, if you will format the memory card before trying to recover the photos, you will not be able to do that. Formatting will delete every data from the card permanently and it will surely become unrecoverable. There are some applications that can help you recover your pictures from the memory card. There is no guarantee of recovery, but there are good chances.

One such application which can help with the file recovery is Recuva for Windows. Recuva is very effective software for data recovery and fortunately it is free and takes very little space on your computer’s hard disk. To install this freeware, you can visit the website of Recuva. It works with Windows 200 and above. Install this app on your computer. Now connect your memory card to the computer using a USB card reader. Open Recuva and select the drive which corresponds to your memory card. You will see the Scan button on the application. Click it. The scan will then give you the list of all the deleted files (and also corrupt files if any) and ask you if you want to recover them. You can choose ‘Select All’ or recover only the selected files.
